Volcano Mount Erebus
Antarctica is one of the most cold places on the Earth and in the same time it is a place where most active hot volcanoes are present. At Ross Island, where is located U.S. Antarctic research center called McMurdo Station, is active, 3,794 metres high, volcano called Mount Erebus. This volcano is continuously active since 1972.
This volcano killed
257 people on board of Air New Zealand Flight 901 on November 28, 1979. Mount Erebus got its name by the ship of the polar explorer Sir James Clark Ross.
